the bus

The bus I rode today was free.
There were many people outside –
                                    hot, tired, needy, lost,

I could have told them that they could ride

for free.

But then the bus may become crowded,

Or perhaps I would not like one of the passengers,
What if they said ‘no’ or became offended?

I am sure that they could see me riding the bus,
And know it was free,

Telling them is taking too great of a chance,
So I did not tell them.
I didn’t want to lose my seat anyway…

The End of a Day
Diving like a kamikaze pilot, the sun embeds itself into the diaphragm separating Earth and Sky. As the horizon swallows the inferno with cosmic parallax, darkness is harkened and it sweeps upon the Earth as a Raptor to its defenseless prey. Violent hues of searing light erupt and propel themselves upward until they saturate the clouds above, creating a galactic kaleidoscope. As the intense colors fade in and out, the ball of heat and light beckons all color as if a piper playing a mystical tune. While the atmosphere’s dying embers lose vibrance, where color once saturated, a mundane gray now drowns. Caught in the universe’s scale, the moon rises upward the farther the sun plummets downward. Now left alone after nature’s grand finale, the moon sits in awkward silence unable to perform.

jesus in Me
I wake up and hurry off to school.
I have no tiMe, yes, thIIs true
.
I sIt through class half awake
what Is today? well, I don’t know the date
I quIckly eat lunch but don’t really care
dIscretely I say thanks through a one mInute prayer
I fly off to my next engageMent and, yes, I am late
I offer weak excuses when upon Me they waIt
at supper I eat In sIlence and then watch tv
now In bed, a three mInute prayer tells god what I need
and soMehow I stIll wonder why they can’t see jesus IMe
